Edinburgh’s Best-Kept Secret

For culture seekers who thrive on staying somewhere truly special.

At the foot of the Royal Mile, beside the gates of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, lies one of Edinburgh’s most unique accommodations. Discreet and steeped in history.

Our apartments

A collection of nine distinct spaces, each with its own character. Think rich textures, oversized sofas, king-size beds and rainfall showers, paired with high-spec kitchens and thoughtful touches throughout.

A place where five centuries of heritage meet the here and now. Behind a historic façade, exposed stonework, antique fireplaces and spiral staircases whisper tales of the past.

Within, stylishly unconventional interiors and considered details speak to today’s design-minded traveller. Whether you're staying for a few nights or a few months, this is boutique accommodation in Edinburgh unlike any other.

Our location

At the foot of the Royal Mile, Abbey Strand Apartments occupy one of the most distinguished addresses in the city. From here, you can stroll to the Scottish Parliament, explore the exhibitions at Dynamic Earth, or scale Arthur’s Seat for sweeping views over the capital.

History

For over 500 years, Abbey Strand has stood at the gates of Holyrood Palace. Once part of the royal precinct, the building has served as almshouses, private lodgings and official residences – its role shifting with the city around it.

Royal Roots, City Soul

Self-contained and quietly refined, Abbey Strand offers space to settle, slow down, and experience Edinburgh at your own pace. A base for discovering the city – or retreating from it entirely.
