Planning your visit 

Thank you for choosing to stay at Abbey Strand Apartments. Whether it’s your first visit or a familiar return, we want to ensure everything runs smoothly from the moment you book to the day you depart. Here, you’ll find useful details on preparing for your stay, arriving at the property, and making the most of your time with us.

Arrival

  • Before you arrive, we request that you complete out pre-check in procedure, including filling out your details on the Guest Portal.  You will receive an email detailing these steps seven days prior to you stay. 

    Once we have your details, we can issue you a secure payment link which you can use to make payment for your stay.  Full payment is required at least three days prior to your arrival.

    A four-digit access code will be send to you by email by 3pm on arrival day, when your apartment is ready.

  • Abbey Strand Apartments are located at 2 Abbey Strand, Edinburgh EH8 8DU — at the foot of the Royal Mile and beside the gates of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Park are on the doorstep.

    The nearest station is Edinburgh Waverley, around a 15-minute walk or short taxi ride away. Black cabs are available outside the station and do not need to be pre-booked.

    There is no on-site parking, but guests benefit from 20% off at the nearby Dynamic Earth Car Park. Simply show your Abbey Strand booking confirmation at the car park office before departure to apply the discount.

  • Check-in is from 15:00. You’ll receive your four-digit access code by email within 24 hours of your arrival – this code opens the front gate, the apartment building, and your apartment itself. There’s no reception, and no need to check in on arrival.

    If you arrive early and would like to leave luggage, please let us know in advance. You’ll be able to use the shared lounge on the ground floor, though this area is not lockable or supervised. 

    If you would like your lounge access extended beyond your check-out time, simply message our team in advance. Your passcode can be updated to permit access to the lounge only.

  • Your access code will remain valid from 15:00 on the day of arrival until 11:00 on the day of departure. Daily housekeeping includes rubbish removal and a light refresh of the bathrooms and bedrooms. Linens are replaced after the third night of longer stays.

  • On the day of your departure, we simply ask that you check out by 11:00 and ensure all personal belongings are with you. After this time, your passcode will no longer work for the apartment or the building – unless lounge access has been pre-arranged.

Facilities available during your stay

WIFI

Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property. Simply connect to our network on your mobile device and enter the password AbbeyStrand (case sensitive).

Kitchen

Each apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen, a Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary pods, and fresh milk and water in the fridge on arrival. In the bathrooms, you’ll find luxury toiletries to last the duration of your stay.

Laundry

If you’d like to do laundry, washer/dryers are available in the guest laundry room, located off the shared lounge on the ground floor. To access this space, use your apartment passcode at the main front door and follow signage.
